The last several months have been a really introspective time for me. I’ve had cause to think about a lot of things in my life and ponder what I should do about them. Some of the stuff is personal enough that it doesn’t belong here, but I have a feeling it might be good for me to talk about some of ones that I can. If I’ve learned anything from Amy, it’s that writing can be a really therapeutic thing. Honestly, I don’t do enough of it.
Okay. Things need to stop breaking.
Woohoo! TiVo has signed a deal with Comcast (archived copy on archive.org) to provide a customized version of its software to run on their DVR boxes. Maybe this will be the thing to keep them alive.
I’ve been meaning to post about this one for quite a while. My spam filters do a pretty good job, but a couple a day usually slip into my inbox. Here’s one from a sender named “Hubby Watch” that I just had to share:
It’s funny how the smallest things can cause such problems. I woke up on Sunday morning, expecting another uneventful day. Maybe I would finally get around to tearing out that sheet rock around the shower head and figuring out what’s wrong there. Unfortunately, the furnace had other ideas.
This came from a friend of mine:

I’m leaving this post in place for historical purposes, but quite a while ago I dropped AuthImage in favor of Spam Karma (link no longer relevant), which seems to do an excellent job of blocking pretty much all my comment spam.

I’m no longer updating this post to talk about the latest way I’m battling spam here at Sliding Constant (not because I fear the reaction, but because it’s something that changes a lot, and I don’t feel like repeatedly updating this entry). So, as before, I’m leaving this entry in place for historical purposes, but it won’t be updated.
I followed a link today from Slashdot to an article from the Washington Times about George Tenet speaking at an “information-technology security conference” in Washington.
Don’t ask how I found this, because I don’t remember. I lost concentration with all the laughing.
Now that the election is, for all practical purposes, over, I thought I’d throw in a useless yet amusing observation about the media reports.
