Tonight is just a treasure trove of car-related stuff for me to point and laugh at. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve heard of stuff like this before, but I\u2019ve never actually seen plans. Behold: <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20070105012017\/http:\/\/spiritofmaat.com\/archive\/feb2\/carplans_doc.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cPRELIMINARY PLANS TO RUN YOUR CAR ON TAP WATER!\u201d<\/a> <em>(emphasis<\/em> most <em>definitely<\/em> not mine). <em><strong>edit 17 March 2021<\/strong>:<strong> I replaced the original link with an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">archive.org<\/a>&nbsp;version.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, we all remember <a href=\"\/?p=440\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">how easy it is to show that this won\u2019t work<\/a>, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>(Bonus points for the student who thinks to ask the designer why the water vapor coming out of the tailpipe can\u2019t simply be condensed and used again.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sentence I love the most, though, is this one:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>If you test it out, though, do as the writer suggests and use an old car that doesn\u2019t represent a loss of value if you can\u2019t make it work.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>In other words, if you can\u2019t make it work, it\u2019s <strong><em>your fault<\/em><\/strong>. After all, they \u201cknow by personal experience that the technology is sound.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wow.
