Wi-Fi Protected Setup - a confirmed flawed concept
So, first I should say that a number of you who follow my posts on here have requested that I write about my recovery from the motorcycle wreck I had just over a year ago. Unfortunately for those folks, this post isn't it. At some point I may decide to write about it, but I think that's not likely to happen before my recovery is actually mostly complete. For now (among other reasons), I think I'm still too much in the middle of things to feel like I'm able to write something that may be interesting to a large portion of my readers. For the most part, my wonderful wife and mom have done a good job of updating pretty much everyone who cares. If you got left out somehow, I encourage you to look at the "Team Jeffie" community on Facebook. It includes info on how to sign up for further updates.
I do feel like I need to say "thank you", though. I really had no idea how many people cared so much about me until this happened. Friends came "out of the woodwork" from all parts of my life to provide all kinds of help. I'm not completely healed yet (not even that close), but I'm definitely a whole lot further along than I was. As a matter of fact, after my third driver assessment session tomorrow, I'm likely to be able to do a limited amount of driving (on my own!).
I know that will take a huge load off of Amy.
Nope. This is actually more of a rant/update for one of the most popular posts on my site. I felt like the recent news deserved a certain amount of acknowledgement (and also a big fat "told you so"). About two and a half years ago, I had a bit of a rant about something called "Wi-Fi Protected Setup", provoked mostly by my experiences with the Linksys access point I was using at the time. Well, it turned out to be even worse than I first predicted. In addition to all the problems I pointed out over two years ago (inadequate PIN code size, inability to disable WPS on many products, and inability to change said PIN), a few extra things were found by researchers and put into a hacking tool. Take a look for yourself.
Is it okay for me to declare a big fat "I told you so" at this point?
