Bike insurance info

in bike-related

Odd as it probably seems, my motorcycle wreck didn't turn me against the concept of riding in general. I've made the decision that I won't ride again, but that's mostly for the sake of Amy's peace of mind.

Someone contacted me to request that I post a link to this pagehttp://www.thesimpledollar.com/carinsurance/motorcycles/

In a good mood

in life events/news, recovery

I figured it was a good idea to post about this for a couple of reasons. One is that my web log tends to serve as a set of "reference points" for my memory: a way to anchor events to definite times for when I go back and see them later. Like I've said before, I realize that this web log is mostly for me. However, I do know that a few other people keep an eye on it, and when a positive event happens in my life, it's nice to share it with those people (especially right now when positive things are fairly rare in my life).

A Good Beginning for the Day

in deep thoughts, recovery

I'm still working on the process of getting my depression meds adjusted, but this morning has been positive so far. I can tell that I'm thinking a little farther "outside myself" than usual. I realized I was thinking of ways I could "optimize" my schedule this morning to better take advantage of the time I had. It's the kind of stuff that most people do without thinking consciously about it, but I recognized that it was another step away from the "canned schedule" kind of stuff that I've been doing.

Samsung Exynos Exploit

in geekiness, linkfood

There's a nasty exploit on devices that use the Samsung Exynos 4 SoC (for example, the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android phones).

Feeling Better

in deep thoughts, recovery

Since I know one or two people saw my earlier posts and were worried, I figured it was a good idea to throw up a quick post to let folks know that I'm feeling better. Smile

What I'm Not Doing

in deep thoughts, recovery

I'm very frustrated, and I realize that the reason is something that's entirely under my control. People have noted to me that one of my talents was being able to break down a complex situation into individual small tasks so that I can attack it a bit at a time. I'm not very good at that right now. I don't think it's an intellectual problem of not being able to understand how to break a situation up. I think it's more of an emotional/motivational issue. Many times, I know exactly what I should be doing, but I just can't find the motivation to do it.

My Search for Solace

in deep thoughts, life events/news, rant, recovery

The following started as an email reply to a good friend who offered the sincere belief that time spent around friendly people I know at an activity I used to participate in would be a "cure" for depression. The more I wrote, the more I realized it should probably be shared with anyone I know who cares to read it. So, here goes...

Short(er) Attention Span

in deep thoughts, random

So, I think what I've noticed this morning is that my injury and recovery have somehow managed to shorten my already short attention span. As my friends well know, I've always been prone to not keeping in touch with people like I should (especially those people I don't see in person very often or at all). Unsurprisingly, I've also been spending a lot of time online, so I've had the opportunity to "meet" several new interesting people. I think what started "hitting" me this morning is just how many new people I know.

Favorite Music: On Its Way Back

in music

So, a few of my regular readers will probably remember my first two Favorite Music posts. Well, I'm getting the urge to get back to that. Turns out I left myself some ideas in my old posts about what I might do. In the meantime, I re-did the links today in the first two posts (so that they actually work again). Same thing as before: if I know you, and you're interested in the posts, please drop me an email. Go ahead and do it again even if you did so before. I've updated the info I shared last time.
